92.3 xFM
I hardly ever listen to radio in the Philippines since I never hear my kind of music playing anywhere. The only time I do is when I’m in cars, on the way to somewhere and I always either have to settle for Joey, keep switching from station to station or just forget it and play one of my brother’s CDs (he’s a freelance house disc jockey in his spare time). Then along came 92.3 xFM.
It used to be Joey 92.3 and they played jazz fusion, pop jazz and crossover sounds, with a little more of the European jazz flavor, targeting the higher echelon crowd - mostly embassy officials who were displaced by the departure of City Lite 88.3 in 2003.
Yesterday in the car, I was pleasantly surprised to hear my kind of music (lounge, ambient, downtempo) quietly streaming from the car speakers. I thought my brother burned some CDs of music from my laptop. It wasn’t so, he found that station: 92.3 xFM which now plays downtempo, electronica, ambient, chill out, lounge, house, trip hop, and indie music- 24 hours, 7 days a week. In no other radio station in the Philippines will you hear this kind of music- you can usually hear them only in the higher end clubs and hotel lobbies.
It really was about time we had a station playing this kind of music here in the Philippines.
Now if only there’s a law that obligates all the taxi cabs to tune in to that station..but I guess that’ll be too much to ask.. Lol.
EDIT!
You can listen in online! (Will play using your Windows Media Player) Here

Thank you for the very kind words…as well congratulations for winning at the Candy Magazine Blog Awards 2007. Read your blog as soon as it was posted…but didn’t have the time to drop a comment off…till today. We do value the encouragement…and I did read your comments on Pinoy Exchange as well…just send the suggestions over and we’ll see what we can do about them.
Again thank you!
Raymund
they just lauched the new station aura i think this june…i wasnt able to attend their party though at nbc tent. congrats anyway..
I love the station. I also rarely opened the radio before xfm. Every station was the same (except for nu107). xfm stood out because of the different genre of music they play.. a genre I adore!
I got my car stereo stuck to this station! Unbelievable MUSIC!!! I just wish I could find some of the songs they are playing. Can anybody help me?
I was able to attend the launch and, maaan, it was niiice. (Surprisingly I was able to attend the launch since it is an industry event. Got invites through my other blog. Have you?)
But about sustaining the sound as a poster mentioned on the xFM thread at PinoyExchange… maybe the oldies could mean something. I hope not for the worse…
can i just ask if joey 92.3 is still playing the kind of music that had been playing for so long? i love jazz its great i hope you stick to the kind of genre thanx.
Hi! Thanks for suggesting xFM. I have been a Joey fan ever since I arrived from Rome, when I started my priestly ministry in Manila. The songs kept me in serene mood. Now that I’m in Cebu as a school chaplain, I needed this kind of music. Thanks a lot.
Very Nice! Thanks!
Greetings!
Thank you so much for good music that you play. Since your lunch. I never attempt to change the station in my car or in my home.
Keep up the good work and more power.
One question though… would it be possible to provide me the title of the song of Michael Buble?
Thanks in advance
