Art Eggcident

Huge sunny side up eggs makes an otherwise dull square become an interesting destination! I love it! Haha.. This outdoor installation is called Art Eggcident by Dutch artist Henk Hofstra. I believe the eggs are still cooling at night and defrosting in the mornings until now- since its installation last May, it will remain there for 6 months. It can be found at Zaailand in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

Some of the “yolks” are all round and puffy. The larger ones are flat but still yellow, duh. None are edible. I love love all this random awesomeness from Northern European artists.. Just look at this one on Lake Geneva by Swiss artists Jean-Pierre Gaugg and Georges Favre

It’d be so great to see something completely random or super weird like these in the Philippines.. I’d love to do something like it.. an installation of huge Salvador Dali’s Persistence of Memory clocks draped allover the CCP perhaps? Who cares if it doesn’t make sense.. Lol.

Henk Hofstra is also the artist behind “Urban River” - yet another installation where he painted an entire city street aqua blue, attempting to create an outdoor art installation visible on Google Earth.

4000 litres of bright blue paint covered a 1000m stretch of road in Dratchen, Holland. Google Earth takes a few years to update so for now, you can see “Water is Life” written across the whole stretch via a helicopter.
