Had dinner at Alavars of Cebu last night of crabs, kare-kare, scallops, mussels, baby back ribs, squid and the lovely lovely Alavar rice. I’d have been happy with just the rice. My website (crichi.com) gets visitors who searched in Google these keywordfs: Alavar sauce, Alavars Cebu, Alavars rice recipe, Alavar sauce recipe, Alavar recipes. Haha.. Well I did make a post about Alavars before when it first opened. But there aren’t any recipes there.. just yummy pictures.

All this time I’ve been feeling like my life has been put “on hold” while I’m here. I cannot wait to get it back on track which will happen only as soon as I start seriously studying Fashion Design. But this has not been all a waste. I’ve got to know my relatives here who, before, I was lucky to see once in two years. They’re wonderful people who have shown me around, made me feel like this here is my home too and shared their life with me. I got to be with and play with my nephew (which wouldn’t otherwise have the possibility of happening since my cousin’s family lives in Singapore and almost never goes to Manila) who’s really smart and adorable and everything nice a little boy could possibly be.

I’m almost late for class. Lol. So I’m wrapping this up now..

I was really feeling crappy, though it doens’t show, because I had t spend my 21st here. Crap crap crap. Anyway, thanks guys for cheering me up a lil. I’m so full of food and sick of it, I really wish I could swear off food now for a lng time.. but sadly I can’t. Lol.. There goes my starvation diet. Yesterday was Lola Rene’s 1st death anniversary and there was a mass at home and of course- food. Tons of it. With of course tons people to consume it all. And then this evening tons more food again. But it really is so much yummier tonight. Alavar food is very different. They just re-opened their branch here last Wednesday after closing for 10 years when the family who owned it was at a different location. They have thos Alavar sauce which is amazing. It’s that orange part of the crab sauteed in stuff I don’t know but made it irresistible and I cannot get enough of it. Had steamed lapu-lapu fillet wrapped in banana leaves and flavoured with celantro and lemon and garlic, red red crabs with the special sauce, a set of scallops, mussels and tahong cooked differently, tofu stuffed with pork cutlets, and their yummy sizzling rice doused with the yummy sauce and mango ice cream with mango bit and pandan jelly to clean up the fishy aftertaste.

Can’t wait to go home for the real celebrations =) I’m flying this 14th!~ Yay

I bought some supplies from Beauty Bar and passed by the only decent bookstore here in Cebu City- National freaking Bookstore. I bought the second Gossip Girl instead of the third book from The Wheel of Time, which by the way is an incredibly incredibly good series. It’s better than LOTR, Harry Potter and David Eddings books combined. Yes combined. It’s just incredible. Robert Jordan’s characters and settings are so alive, unique and believable. My sister has actually all the books so I shouldn’t buy it but she’s in Manila so how can I read the third book. Anyway, it wasn’t available anymore. Out Of Stock. Probably one of the most horrible 3-word phrases ever. I just had to settle with this no-brainer book for now. Lol.
